Bad Gastein last-minute deals: a spontaneous trip to the mountains, with easy travel
Pack your bags, clear your mind: your last-minute trip to Bad Gastein
Fancy a spontaneous trip to the mountains? Easy. Just pack a few bits and bobs and head off to the Gastein Valley – your bathrobe and spa bag are already waiting in your room. You’ll be staying in the historic Badeschloss, built in 1791 right next to the Gastein Waterfall, right in the heart of Straubingerplatz. The national park, summit hikes and ski slopes are practically on your doorstep. It doesn’t get much more mountainous than this.
In the evening, Auntie Heidi calls you to the large table: quality local ingredients, flavours from around the world, all to share. Or you could do a few laps in the rooftop infinity pool first, with a view over the edge of the pool down into the valley. A summit hike or a sauna session? Both. Today, at least.
What’s the weather going to be like in the mountains?

A summer in the mountains or time on the slopes? Your last-minute trip to Bad Gastein
The valley lies below you, surrounded by nothing but mountain peaks. Somewhere, a waterfall roars; the air is crisp. Yesterday you were at your desk; today you’re by the pool on the 13th floor. That’s exactly what last-minute trips are for.
At the Urban Nature Hotel Bad Gastein, you’ll find yourself somewhere in between: historic spa-house charm in the Badeschloss, a fresh vibe in the new building. A sauna with mountain views at the Alpine Swim Club. Rooms with modern design and playful details inspired by the spa culture of days gone by. A family-style dinner at Auntie Heidi’s. A last-minute decision, but it felt just right.

Summer in Gastein
In summer, the Gastein Valley becomes an outdoor playground. More than 350 kilometres of hiking trails take you, for example, up to Lake Reedsee. Prefer two wheels? Set off on half-day or full-day e-mountain bike tours, with a private guide if you wish. Golfers can tee off at the 18-hole Gastein Golf Club. And for those seeking an adrenaline rush, there’s paragliding and via ferrata routes.
Back at the Badeschloss: take a dip in the heated rooftop infinity pool. And when the sun disappears behind the peaks? Enjoy a drink at the Drifters Hang Out.

Snow outside, cosy moments inside
In winter, the Gastein Valley sparkles. Head off on skis or a snowboard to Sportgastein or the Schlossalm-Angertal-Stubnerkogel ski area. Your kit will be waiting for you afterwards in the heated ski room. Prefer not to ski? There are groomed winter walking trails, cross-country ski trails throughout the valley, or a thrilling ride down the “Aeroplan” natural toboggan run at the Schlossalm.
And when the weather’s really rubbish? Head to the Alpine Swim Club – in winter, the sauna opens as early as 11 am. Afterwards, enjoy a drink at Drifters Hang Out, in the historic part of the Badeschloss. Cold outside, warm inside. Good vibes.
